At the age of 13, Yohance entered in the coming-of-age ceremony in the Hebrew faith celebrating his Bar Mitzvah. Yohance was given the name Akiba Ben Yehudah (meaning holding on to the heel) by his Rabbi. Yohance enjoyed his faith and always reflected on his memories of going to the synagogue every sabbath with his parents. There Yohance would master the spoken word where he would become fluent in Hebrew and would learn how to read the Torah. Yohance's heart radiated beyond his family and friends. His love for animals especially his dogs expressed the soft side many grew to love and admire.
Yohance's personality was one in a million. He loved to joke around and to laugh. He was the epitome of a "little brother". His pranks, jokes and sense of humor were truly authentic, no matter how hard you may have tried not to, he knew how to make you crack a smile.
Yohance’s children were his greatest accomplishments and treasures,he doted on his children and did his best to provide for them. Yohance always showed love with his jovial spirit and affection for those around him.
