Sylvester Carlisle was born August 13.1950 in Atlanta (Fulton County), Georgia to the parentage of the late Gertrude Strickland, and Gus Carlisle Jr.
Sylvester grew up in Atlanta, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1969, where he was known for talents as a star track athlete. As his life progressed on he met and married the love of his Life Mrs. Vanessa Carlisle of Roanoke, Alabama. With their union three children were born.
The family made their home in Roanoke, Alabama, where they raised their children, and made many wonderful friends. He worked for over 17 years at Aamco in Roanoke, and was also known for being a huge Auburn fan. He played recreational city league basketball, and enjoyed watching his children be involved in sports, he served as the assistant coach on the teams they were a part of. He helped coach the Roanoke Raiders to a championship in 2000.
On Friday November 13, 2020 Sylvester heard the call from heaven, and quietly transitioned from this life at the Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton (Carroll County), Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, grandfather, son in law Travis Hambrick,, mother- in- law Luree (Woodget) Allen; father- in- law, Rocelius Allen; sister- in- law, Marsha Allen; brother- in- law, Rocelius Allen, Jr.,
Sylvester leaves behind to cherish his memories: Wife Vanessa Carlisle of Roanoke, AL; daughter, Chanda Hambrick of Opelika, AL; sons: Shawn Carlisle of Opelika, AL, and Torrey (Shaquesda) Carlisle of Roanoke, AL.; Four (4) grandchildren: Torrey Carlisle Jr., Zaiden Carlisle of Roanoke, AL, and Travis Hambrick, and Tylik Hambrick of Opelika, AL; One (1) great- grandchild: Malik J.K. Hambrick. One (1) sister Annie Riddle, Two (2)
Brothers ; Lonnie Riddle and James Carlisle. One (1) niece Beverly Riddle, Three (3) Nephews, Jimmy Riddle, John Riddle, Cedric, Riddle. Two (2) Great Nephews; Miguek Riddle, and
Martell Riddle of Atlanta, Georgia. Five (5) brothers- in- law: Stanley Allen (Patricia) of Roanoke, AL, Darrell Allen (Alice) of Auburn, AL, Rev. Lamar Allen (Pamela) of Dallas, Ga, Reginald Allen of LaGrange, Ga, and Ronald Allen of Birmingham, AL; two (2) sisters- in- law: Ruth Lyons (Randolph) of Opelika, AL, and Cassandra Allen of Birmingham, AL; special nephew: Kerry Allen of Opelika, AL; Morell Allen and Shavar Holliday of Roanoke, AL, and a host of other loving relatives, and friends.
