Bobby L. Jones, Sr. was born January 22, 1945 to the late Dena Saltmarshall and Peter Jones in Massillion, AL of Dallas County. Upon his mother's death, Bobby and his younger brother were raised by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and L.C. Jackson. When he was six years old, the family moved to Bessemer, AL. Education-His education was with the Bessemer School System and Bessemer Technical where he received certification as a welder.
He worked as a welder at Jones Foundry and Pullman Standard. He was also employed with Miles College and the State of Alabama.
Rev. Jones confessed his belief in Christ and joined the African Methodist Episcopal Church. His membership and training started at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Fairfield, under the leadership of Elder Myers Hawkins.
He loved people and would share his last to help others. He loved the church and served as a pastor until he became disabled. He served at Coppins Chapel, Yerkwood; St. Luke, Havana; Shiloh,Greensboro; and St. John, Graysville. In 1986, he entered into holy matrimony with Alesia Hill. God called him to his everlasting home June 19, 2020 His brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He will be missed and memories will be forever with his wife, Alesia Hill Jones; his children,
Bobby L. Jones, II, Nashville, TN; Quincy Jones (Tamera) Baytown, TX; Jackie Jones ( Carl) Manson, NC; and Corneil L. Hill, Pleasant Grove, AL; grandchildren: Deja, Nequil, Jailynn, Jania, De'quarris, Shakerria, Christian, Kobe, and Meagan; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Long and Barbara White; three brothers-in-law, Silas Hill, Gregory Hill and Rickey Hill; one nephew, Matthew Jackson; four neices, Carol Jones, Johnnie Mae Woods, Melnee Tart and Alane Holder; a host of great nephews and neices, cousins, and long-time friends who became family.
