Kenneth T. Meigs

Kenneth T. Meigs was born on December 12, 1941 in LaFayette, AL, to the parentage of the late Henry and Mattie Meigs.

He graduated from Valley High School in 1960, following graduation he would pursue his college degree, and later attended and successfully graduated from Southern Union State Community College.

Kenneth accepted Christ at the age of 14 and was United with the Valley First Assembly of God  Church where he served as the District Commander of the Assembly of God Royal Rangers. Later in life he moved his membership to the Evangel Temple Church where he served as a Deacon. 

On June 23, 1963 he married the love of his life Mrs. Sharon Meigs at Calvary Baptist Church in Hughley, AL, and would remain faithful to her for 60 years.

Kenneth enjoyed many lines of work during his lifetime and was often known to his family as the “Jack of all trades”. He enjoyed working as a “Beekeeper” from age 12, and was an active member of the Alabama Beekeepers Association. He was an Alabama Licensed Insurance Agent for Gulf Life Insurance for a long period of time. In 1974 Kenneth opened Meigs Plumbing and Electrical Services and ran it successfully until his health began to decline.

On Friday December 8, 2023 Kenneth passed away at his home surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son Jacob Meigs.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife of 60 years; Sharon Meigs of Lanett,AL; Children: Adams Meigs of Lanett, AL; Darrin Meigs of Virginia Beach, VA; Jonathan (Laura) Meigs of Lanett, AL. His Siblings; Ronnie (Tricia) Meigs of Lanett, AL. Becky Birdsong of Lanett, AL. Sherry Stone of Valley, AL; Daughter- In- Law Tracey Meigs of Lanett, AL. 11 Grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and finally a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
