Bunyan Goodwin Jr. was born on August 11,1971 in Roanoke (Randolph County), Alabama, to the parentage of the Late Bunyan Goodwin Sr. and Mary Frances Jones- Scott.
He grew up in the Randolph County area and attended Randolph County High School. Bunyan was known for his knowledge of everyday life and was a star athlete for RCHS especially as a football player, his classmates and friends will always remember #5.
Bunyan spent a majority of his life working the field of construction as a travel welder and worked for Mr. Bruce Griffin whom he considered was like family to him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and handsome smile. When speaking of Bunyan, Butch, or Jr. Boy hearts will always be saddened but found comfort will come from knowing that his love for his people was genuine.
On Saturday March 4, 2023, Bunyan quietly transitioned from this walk of life in Bibb County, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his father, two sisters: Rachel, and Mary Alice; nephew: JD; Niece: JaQuetta. Bunyan leaves behind a family that will cherish his memories; his wife; Sonya Goodwin of Columbus, MS. Children; Kiara Hill of Columbus, GA, Michael Patillo of Roanoke, AL; Kanesha Hughley of Roanoke, AL; and Brayden John Williams of Birmingham,AL. His loving and devoted Mother Mary Frances Jones- Scott of Roanoke, AL. Two Step Sister: Coretta (Teddy) Ector, and Arnita Schwartz . Aunts: Catherine Spidell (Curtis) of Wedowee, AL; Mary Louis Rowland of Roanoke,AL. Uncle: Staxton Marsh of Lineville; Richard Goodwin of Wedowee,AL. Five Grandchildren; Special “Brothers”: Carey Smith and Victor Thompson both of Roanoke, AL , God-Daughter: Diamond Rhodes of Roanoke, AL and finally a host of cousins, and friends
