Ms. Viola Gholston

Our sweet Viola was born, March 22, 1943 in Fitzpatrick, AL to the late Samuel and
Elizabeth Gholston.
She confessed her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized in Fitzpatrick, AL at Piney
Grove Baptist Church.

She relocated several times but she spent most of her years in Long Island, NY with her
daughter Michelle. She eventually moved back to the south where she resided in
Denmark, SC before moving to Union Springs, AL to be near her niece, Dorothy.

While living in Union Springs, AL she united with Oak Grove #4 Baptist Church in
Shopton, AL under the leadership of Reverend Anthony Williams.

Viola enjoyed spending time at the Bullock County Nutritional Center in Union Springs,
AL, with her senior friends doing crafts, exercising and taking mini field trips.
In 2017, she moved to Louisville, KY to be with her one and only daughter, Michelle and
her beloved grandchildren.
On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the twinkling of an eye, at the Jewish Medical
Hospital in Louisville, KY she transitioned to her forever home.
Her parents, her son, Baby James Gholston and several siblings preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her smile and sweet spirit are; her daughter, Michelle Gholston,
Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Paul Levi, Zaraya Gholston, Anjhalyan Calvin; four great
grands, Nevaeh Brown, Azerean Gholston, Skyler Gholston, Azian Gholston; sister, Lily
P Moore, Midfield, AL; two brothers, John (Elizabeth) Gholston, Samuel Gholston,
Hueytown, AL; brother in law, George Powell Sr., and many other nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
